Motivate Your Child with a Potty Training Reward Chart

One of the best ways to track potty training success and really encourage your toddler is with potty training charts. Not only is this a hassle-free technique of monitoring your youngster's success, it is actually a terrific way to encourage your son or daughter.

You'll find charts featuring favorite themes and cartoon figures. If you are a creative person you can even make your own potty training chart, using poster board and 3D stickers. However, the internet is full of charts you can print for free. Just remember the charts you download and print on your printer are not going to be as durable, unless you print them on heavy paper.

You may want to consider the "I Can Do It" potty training reward chart. It's brightly colored, and quite long lasting. It comes equipped with plastic stars and a potty training guide. You'll find training hints and an achievement certificate for when your toddler is successfully potty trained. The best thing about this chart is the fact that it uses dry erase markers and magnetic stars, so that you may use it again for a younger sibling.

You will also find gender based potty charts. "My Potty Reward Stickers for Girls: 126 Girl Potty Training Stickers and Chart to Motivate Toilet Training" by Tracy Foote is based around more feminine color preferences and comes with a chart and 126 bright-colored stickers. For boys there is a comparable item by the same author called "My Potty Reward Stickers for Boys: 126 Boy Potty Training Stickers and Chart to Motivate Toilet Training". Of course, the color choices and figures are more geared toward boys' interests.

No matter if you buy a chart or download one, potty training charts are only going to work if your child is ready to potty train. Unfortunately, you do not decide when your little one potty trains; they do. The average guideline is between 18 months and three years of age, though some kids will train earlier or later. Boys are well known to be late trainers, so don't panic should your child go past this guideline.

If you have any problems related to this issue, visit your son or daughter's pediatrician. He / she may help you by providing medical experience and in many cases personal insights, because many pediatricians have little ones themselves that they have had to toilet train.
